Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence Refresher Course  

ASQ Section 509 is pleased to offer a refresher course for quality management professionals who want to prepare for the Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence Certification Exam administered by the American Society for Quality.  The CMQ/OE Body of Knowledge will be reviewed and participants will be given a sample exam questions throughout the course. This will help them identify topics they should concentrate on as they prepare for the actual exam. Levels of cognition will be reviewed and their use in defining the intended complexity of multiple choice test questions will be identified.  Constructed response (essay) questions will be reviewed throughout the course.
 
Location: Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland campus (SB Building).
 
Dates:  The course will consist of six 4-hour sessions (24 classroom hours).  Sessions will be on Saturdays from 8am to Noon. Actual class dates are: January 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20, and 27.
 
Instructor: Robert J. Scanlon, ASQ Section 509.
Mr. Scanlon is a Senior Member of ASQ with over 30 years experience in quality management.  He has held quality-related positions with Caterpillar, Inc., Southern Pacific Railroad, the United States Postal Service, and the Transportation Security Administration.  He has held Quality Manager positions with Caterpillar and the USPS.  He is currently the Assistant General Manager for Operational Process & Performance Metrics for TSA.  He holds ASQ Certifications as a Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Quality Manager, and Six Sigma Black Belt.  He has also served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for 11 years. 
 
Tuition: $325 payable to ASQ 509, which is offering the course.
 
Course Materials: We will be using certification materials from the Quality Council of Indiana.  Required materials for the course are:

• CQM/OE Primer - $75
• Solution Text - $35

Credit: This course does not carry CEU or academic credit.

Dates: Exam date is Saturday, March 6, 2010.  Application deadline is January 15, 2010.

Location: Exam location is in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC.  Applicants will be notified of location and time by National ASQ.

Exam Application: Application for the exam is done directly with National ASQ (http://www.asq.org/certification/manager-of-quality/index.html).

CMQ/OE Exam Cost: $450 for non-members, $300 for members.  Join ASQ and save!  Exam applicants are responsible for meeting ASQs certification requirements.
