Program Summary:
The
grade of ASQ Fellow is an earned recognition
granted to individuals who have made
significant and sustained contributions to the
Quality profession through technical expertise,
meritorious service, excellence in education
and professional practice, and advancement of
the profession through innovation and knowledge
sharing. This presentation will review the
steps towards becoming an ASQ Fellow; cite
incentives why ASQ members should pursue the
grade; and share personal experiences how ASQ
Fellowship has helped advance the quality
profession and aspire towards improving
society.
Speaker Biography:
Melvin (Mel) Alexander is an ASQ Fellow and Certified Quality Engineer with over 25 years of experience consulting on the use of statistical, quality engineering approaches in the electronics manufacturing, education, IT, biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. He is a member of the ASQ Quality Press review board and the Fellows Mentoring program. He currently is employed as an Operations Research Analyst with the Social Security Administration (SSA), a statistical consultant in the Departments of Diagnostic Radiology and Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland’s Medical Center, and an Adjunct Instructor at the Community College of Baltimore County teaching Statistics, Quality Engineering, and CQE Refresher courses. He earned a masters degree in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He was a past chair of the ASQ Baltimore Section, the Healthcare Division, and served on ASQ’s Certification Board and numerous subcommittees. He was an examiner for the US Senate Productivity and Maryland’s State Quality Awards. He served on the writing team that published the first International Organization for Standardization guideline to implement a Quality Management System for Healthcare under the ISO 9004:2000 revision (ISO/IWA 1).
DIRECTIONS TO THE GOLDEN BULL
From Rt.
495. Go N. Rt. I-270 (in Maryland). Take Exit
11 off of I-270 East onto Route 124 (Montgomery
Village Avenue). Make the first right at the
intersection of Route#355 (Frederick Avenue).
Go South on Frederick Avenue 0.5 miles. Make
right turn onto Dalamar Street to #7 Dalamar
Street.
From the intersection of Shady Grove
Road and Frederick Avenue (Rt. 355) (in
Maryland). Go North on Frederick Avenue about
seven miles. Crossover overpass. Continue North
to Dalamar Street, and then turn left onto #7
Dalamar Street. Ample parking is available at
restaurant.
