Driving directions: By Car: From I-270 (N or S bound): Take Exit 9A and exit from the FIRST right exit; turn left (east) onto Shady Grove Dr.; turn right (south) onto Rockville Pike (Route 355); turn left (east) onto East Gude Dr.; turn left (north) immediately onto Crabb’s Branch Dr.; turn left (west) immediately onto Standish Place. The first building on your right side is 7519 Standish Place; open parking). The venue is on the first floor with its entrance opposite to the left side of building main entrance. By Metro train: Off from Red Line Shady Grove Station, and take RideOn Route 59 TOWARD ROCKVILLE and get off from “Calhoun Place” stop. Standish Place is next to the Bus stop. Our venue is within 2 min of walking distance from the stop.

Summary:  

Information security is becoming a serious concern in all areas of people’s life and organization daily operation.  It will become even more a serious concern if we cannot be ready to handle the new security challenges that affect individual’s life, company’s survival, and national’s interests.  

This presentation will focus on some basics of information security and the technologies that are available for us to identify the threats from attacking and protect the valuable information from loss in our daily routines.  We will also address the future security challenges we are facing and projected technology evolution in dealing with these challenges.

Presenter's Bio: 

Specialty: Information Security, Smart Card, Software System Development and Integration

Mr. Xiaomin Chen has been in IT industry for 20 years and has been working as an information security and smart card consultant for GSA HSPD-12 project, a 100M high profile security project, at HP Enterprise Services since 2007.  Prior to that, he was working on software design and implementation in various companies including medical care, media, financial institutions and software hosting companies.  

Mr. Chen graduated as a Master degree graduate majoring in information system from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1988 and studied Neural Network and Artificial Intelligence as a Ph.D. student in West Virginia University between 1991-1994. He is currently the President of C&T Technology, Inc. based at Rockville, MD.
